Rude Awakenings
---------------
After the introductory cut-scene, the game opens with you inside your private quarters in the Black Mesa facility. You wake to the sound of your door closing and retreating laughter. Quickly grab the crowbar on your desk and make short work of the two headcrabs that were tossed in your room. Then use the crowbar to smash through the door. Make your way through the cafeteria to the security field, where Joe will instruct you to use the ventilation system to make your escape. After grabbing the HEV suit in the restroom, gear up with supplies in the munitions closet. Smash through the grate in the wall above the shelves to enter the ventilation duct, and make your way through the ducts, dodging the occasional headcrab.

Soon you will emerge in a tall ventilation shaft. Climb down, avoiding the green slime, and re-enter the ducts through the lower grate. Crawl through the ducts, avoiding the fan, and emerge in the boiler room. Don't try to reach the door without first deactivating the steam valve to the left of the boiler, wasting the zombie and headcrab while you are there. Exit the boiler room and turn right down the corridor to the pump room. After dispatching the three zombies (one is at the top of the stairs), smash the glass covering the pump power switch and turn it on. Soon the water will be removed from the lower corridor. Descend the stairs, checking for a hidden headcrab, and make your way down the lower corridor to the access shaft. Climb up to the top and smash your way through the duct door and through the grate into the hallway.

Take the right door out of the hallway down into a pump room with two pump units. Activate the switch on the left control panel to cause the left pump to accelerate in speed. Stand back before the pump explodes, which will then cause the room to slowly flood. As the floodwaters rise, you can then float to the top of the shaft behind the pumps, up to a ventilation duct. Break your way in, and make your way down to the grate in the floor of the duct. Watch for headcrabs behind you. Smash through the grate and drop down into the hallway and Joe will call you down to the end of the hallway where he is stuck behind another laser field. Listen to his instructions before stocking up on supplies in the closet and ride the elevator up.















































Sector "E"
--------
Watch out for the grunt when the elevator doors open. Follow the hallway down the left and down to the entrance lobby. Activate the security panel on the desk to open the security door, and proceed up the hallway. The upper fire exits will be blocked, but a grunt will open the lower security door in an attempted ambush. Climb up the ladder behind the lower security door to emerge outside on a catwalk. Jump down and  make your way quickly across the parking lot, avoiding fire from the apache. If you wish, climb aboard the rocket launcher tank and take down the chopper. Enter the tool shed in the back corner, avoiding the grunt's ambush, and proceed down the stairs.

Load up on supplies in the back closet before entering the repair bay, but watch out for the headcrab ambush in the soda machine. A grunt will run away when you get near the maintenance office. Follow him down the access corridor, but watch out for the ambush they have set up behind the office furniture. Proceed down the corridor to the elevator. As you are riding down to the lower level, grunts will open fire on you from the mid level. When you reach bottom, proceed down the hallways to the security door.

Smash the glass covering the access panel on the right, and activate the button to open the door to reveal more supplies. Open the security door by using the retina scanner, and proceed into the lobby. After you attempt to call the three elevators, the one on the left end will open, revealing another ambush. Dispatch them, and use the elevator to ride down to the entrance to Sector "E".

Make your way across the bridge to the stairs to the experimentation room, and activate the ceiling gatling gun by smashing & using the controls between the computers. Climb back up to the catwalk and use the gatling gun to shoot out the glass in the lower chamber and blast a hole in the back wall. Climb back down and jump through the hole into the aqueduct. Proceed through the gate under the water at the left end of the aqueduct.

Proceed down the aqueduct to the pump motor room.  After wasting the zombies, deactivate the pump motor using the console behind the pump.  Smash the crates for items.  Proceed back down to the aqueduct, but avoid the grunt ambush.  Make you way to the now stationary pump impeller and jump down into the water shaft.  Swim to the two closed bulkhead doors and turn the crank on the door on the right to open the bulkhead.  If you are running low on air, take a breath by swimming up the small square shaft in the ceiling.

Swim through the pipes into the cylindrical tank of the oceanarium.  Quickly swim to the other side and climb up the service ladder to the catwalk.  Make your way back on the catwalk to the service door and proceed down the stairs to the lobby of the oceanarium.  For a quick thrill, smash the glass on the control panel behind the two benches and watch the ichthys get wasted.  Proceed down the hallway to the transit station and board the train, avoiding another ambush by the train.

As the transit train arrives in the station, watch out for the grunt attack.  Make your way down the hallway, watching out for another grunt.  Exit the facility into the courtyard and quickly make your way to the APC, dispatching the grunt guarding it.  Climb inside the APC and use the machine gun to blow open the service door, take down the sentry guns, and take out the units inside the entrance.  Gear up on the items inside the entrance and make your way back outside to the electrical panel at the far end.  Climb up the conduit to the roof and make your way over to the roof access, taking down the grunt guard.

Jump down and make your way to the long corridor, where the military has rigged one of the grates to explosively detonate when you get close, causing you to fall into the sewers below.  The sewers are thick with Dr. Newell's Xenanthropods, so start blasting.  Stop in the storage room to replenish items before making your way to the catwalk at the far end of  the sewers.  Climb up and out into the courtyard outside Newell's office and make your way up the stairs (another ambush awaits), through Newell's office, and to the service elevator.

Ride the elevator to the main level, switch elevators to ascend to the commissary level.  In the commissary, use the door behind the counter to access the storage areas behind the freezers.  Follow the service tunnels to the projection vault in the main staircase.  Avoid the entrance scanner (it will kill you) and make your way up instead to the outside entrance.  To the side of the entrance door is a maintenance access door for the service tunnels.  Follow the tunnels to the back entrance to the control room.  Smash through the grate into the control room.  When you attempt to proceed down the tunnel, you will be ambushed.

After recovering from the ambush as the platform descends, go to your right immediately to pick up the crowbar (you lost your weapons).  Carefully make your way back up to the molecular transmutator, back down the other side, and to the rear elevator, dodging and whacking Xenanthropods along your way.  When you enter the elevator, the end sequence will play itself out.
