"Simply, the atmosphere and feelings you get while playing are dictated not by fancy lighting but by the action - which is kind of the theme for everything held within ETC2... ETC2 is like a compressed Half-Life; it's Half-Life in tiny bite-sized morsels. It's heaven on a stick. It's a lot of things, and above all it's great fun." 87/100

"Air strikes pound the base you are in, audio from the Half-Life CD blends in with the action scenes, and bad jokes try miserably to lift the mood. Lighting is just right for the location... This is a small injection of pure Half-Life. Get it. Great pace. Good atmosphere. Gripping first impressions." 93/100

"More accurately, it's damn near the best Black Mesa based Half-Life add-on I've seen to date. In short, think ETC with the voltage increased. ETC's detail was amazing, ETC II's is downright frightening. There's so much going on you'd swear Dave has somehow managed to squeeze a real world into these levels... To call ETC II tense is an understatement... In summation - this is f**king brilliant."
